10 Anchors of Slovenian Alpinism – Virtual Walk
Through a walk through history, we will explore ten alpine achievements that have brought Slovenian alpinism to the top of the world. Did you know that the first alpinist of the Eastern Alps was a Slovenian, Valentin Stanič? And who gained global fame on home turf, who was the first to climb the epic Čop’s Pillar in winter? Slovenians on the eight-thousanders reached the summit of Everest in 1979 via a route that remains a challenge today. The story of Slovenia’s “three musketeers” in Patagonia, daring solo climbs by Tomaž Humar, followed with bated breath during the first live stream, and the first descent by Davo Karničar from the top of Everest are revived once again in the exhibition. The future that awaits us today, with smaller expeditions “beyond the seven mountains,” has already happened in Slovenian alpinism. Is it just a coincidence that we Slovenians have nine Golden Ice Axes?
You are invited to a virtual tour of the museum exhibition “10 Anchors of Slovenian Alpinism”!
