Can you imagine how many fairy tale creatures our mountains hide? Do you know the story of Zlatorog? And who are the žarkžene? Have you heard of Ledenca? Find them in the Slovenian Alpine Museum.

A guided tour of the permanent exhibition focusing on fairy tale characters connected to our mountains (žarkžene, mountain men, goblins, white chamois, etc.). The program includes searching for the mountain goblin, listening to the chamois calling, playing memory games, a puppet fairy tale about Zlatorog or the cartoon Ledenca, and a workshop with colouring or creating a horn/chamois/Triglav flower, or making a Ledenca collage.

Discover the countless stories hidden in museum objects. Listen to them, and they will tell you their tales.

An animation using Planinka (a puppet) on the theme of museums, museum items, and mountaineering equipment. Through the game ‘What’s in the Bag?’, we equip ourselves for a mountain journey ‘old style’ and ‘new style’. Fully equipped, we embark on the Triglav ridge, exploring the world of animals and plants, and facing a storm that catches us in a mountain hut.

The program also includes a workshop where participants can create a piece of mountaineering equipment from natural beeswax or engage in a puzzle game ‘Dress Jakc’ or draw a giant’s picture (group work).

Markers on the mountain trail

The perfect workshop for mountain wanderers, focused on recognizing the trail markers encountered in the hills. From now on, you’ll never get lost in the mountains.

Slovenia is the initiator of connecting paths. The red thread of our permanent exhibition is the connecting path, marked with trail markers, on which visitors solve fun tasks and collect stamps. In the program, we work together to solve tasks in a workbook, learn about the meaning and types of trail markers, their origin, maps, and the information they convey, as well as early guidebooks… In the end, we apply the knowledge gained to create a signpost or trail marker and take part in a fun quiz.
