Activities for Adults

We are aware that almost every Slovenian is at least a little bit of a mountaineer. The diverse program for adults is content-wise focused on the presentation of:

  • news in the field of mountaineering,
  • historical events and personalities,
  • activities of various mountaineering societies,
  • books and other publications with mountaineering and alpine content,
  • Triglav National Park and the activities taking place within it,
  • museum activities and museum programs,
  • discovering stories carried by museum objects, photographs, and documents.

The programs are conducted in the form of courses, lectures, presentations, active workshops, and meetings.

Our activities are also suitable for smaller or larger groups of hikers, motivational and business meetings, as well as team building events.

Guided tour of the permanent exhibition, tailored to the wishes and interests of visitors. Would you like a tour completely tailored to your preferences? Call us and we will try to accommodate your requests.

The guided tour of the permanent exhibition “Climb to the Mountain” takes visitors through the interesting history of mountaineering and the alpine specialties of the Slovenes. Through various stories told by museum guides, visitors step into the world of valuable museum objects and personal life stories. These are complemented by numerous entertaining animations that also encourage safe mountain visits.

With Planinko along the museum linking path

This is a series of fun games in the permanent exhibition “Climb to the Mountain,” which are connected into a museum linking path. Like all mountain paths, it is marked with a trail marker on the ground. It consists of seven computer animations through which the animated cartoon character Planinko guides the visitor. The museum mountaineer can choose, based on their knowledge of mountaineering content, whether to take an easy, medium, or difficult route to the summit of their chosen mountain. Along the way, they must collect five stamps at designated stations, imprint them in their mountaineering book, and carefully listen to and read the guide’s instructions. At the mountain summit, a surprise awaits, which they can choose: a magnet, a view from the top, a cheer, or a free card for another visit to the museum linking path.

The content and activities on the path are tailored to age groups.

Let yourself be immersed in the story of Janez Klinar, affectionately known as Požganec, a housekeeper and innkeeper from Mojstrana, a mountain guide, and assistant to our parish priest Jakob Aljaž!

A guided tour of the permanent exhibition with the mountain guide Janez Klinar Požganec, Jakob Aljaž’s main assistant. Through the stories of individual museum items, he introduces us to the work of Jakob Aljaž around Triglav, his significance in the development of mountain tourism, and his role in preserving the Slovenian character of our mountains. From his storytelling, we sense the strength, wisdom, and patriotism of the simple Slovenian man who made a living as a mountain guide for a better everyday life.

To make the journey easier, he shares a proper mountain snack with us and accompanies us through the permanent exhibition with encouraging words.

Visitors can also take photographs with Požganec, and as a souvenir, they can take home a replica of the badge of the officially recognized guide of the Slovenian Mountaineering Society.

Upon request, it is also possible to watch the introductory film *Svetlobe gora* (20 minutes).
