Vlasto Kopač: Between Rock and Pencil

This year marks the twentieth anniversary of the death of Vlasto Kopač. We know his works, but often not the full breadth of his legacy. On this occasion, museums, public institutions, and individuals preserving his heritage have joined forces. At the museum, we present a commemorative display case with the introductory panel “Vlasto Kopač: Between Rock and Pencil”, focusing on objects connected to his work in mountaineering.

Kopač believed that alpinism was not merely about conquering rock faces, but a way of life. It was a space of responsibility, knowledge, and community – a space of ethics. As an architect, he understood space both in the valley and in the mountains; his creative work and alpinism intertwined in a search for balance between function, beauty, and human experience.
